ABOUT BPT:

Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT) is a 4 and half year undergraduate program in physiotherapy with 6 months of mandatory clinical internship; that is typically rotatory. They have almost similar subjects like PT graduation course in developed countries and can practice either independently or mutidisciplines. However, due to lack of National Council the syllabus of BPT varies from state to state in the country.

BPT course admission Eligibility :

Candidates over 17 years of age are eligible to apply. The candidate must have passed 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th Grade or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Admission Procedure for BPT program

The admission for B.P.T program depends on the merit and also on the performance of the applicant in the entrance test. The application forms for the B.P.T entrance test is issued through online websites or by post. The applicants can download the form from the website of the college or university. The forms are also available in the office of the institutes. The application forms must reach the director of admission on or before of the last date

For MGR affiliated colleges based on counseling conduct by TNMGRMU admission will be processed

BPT course duration:

4 years 6 months inclusive of 6 months compulsory internship.

Fees will vary based on college .Approx fees would be around 75000 to 125000

BPT  course application details:

Career options available to BPT graduates:

  • Physiotherapists are required in each department of a hospital, be it ICU or geriatrics and they can also choose to work independently or be part of a multidisciplinary team. You can enjoy flexible working hours as a consultant, choosing the number of hours you work everyday.
  • Some hospitals choose to pay physiotherapists according to the number of patients he or she sees. Initial remuneration of physiotherapists varies from place to place. In India, the starting salary ranges from Rs. 25,000 to Rs.30,000 per month. Generally, private hospitals provide remuneration ranging between Rs. 25,000 to Rs.55,000 per month for a fresher.
  • In a government hospital like AIIMS, you begin as a Junior Physiotherapist and earn approximately Rs. 30,000 per month.  The progression in designations is Physiotherapist followed by Senior Physiotherapist earning about Rs. 45,000 per month, followed by Superintendent earning about Rs.60,000-70,000 per month and then Chief Physiotherapist earning about Rs.80,000 per month.  Jobs in a government hospital are difficult to get so you might have to explore other options before you land up here.
